So you financed a four year old truck, paying almost 9% for six years??????
You realize you are paying over $24,000 for a truck that should have cost you about $14,000?
BTW, see that button on the left side of the keyboard that says CAPS LOCK? Please turn it off. Typing in all caps is considered shouting and is not polite to talk to your brother F150 guys like that!

By the way it would have cost me over $33,000 for the xl 2000 f150 if i leased it and bought it at the end. the list on that truck was only 22,000.

Hi all
I have a 97 supercab with 29000 miles on it when both door were replaced with new ones. The body shop did do a good job at matching the paint. My concern is are the new doors going to crack also? The body shop said that the new doors have thicker outer sheet metal to take of the cracking problem.I don't know if I believe him.I do know that Ford paid alot of money to replace both doors on my truck. It's hard to believe that Ford is risking it customer loyalty and it's reputation by not stepping up to the plate on this issue.I wonder why none of the consumer magazines are not reporting this problem when 9 out of 10 F150's that I have seen have cracked doors. If they did I am sure that Ford would stop dragging their feet on this issue.

Crack appeared quickly. I have been watching driver's door since new (Feb '99), a friend had a '98 with door crack. It was not visible this past Wednesday morning, but was a quarter inch Thursday morning. No wreck, limited (easy) off road, limited light towing, no abuse. The truck (1999 XLT SC) just turned 18,000 mi. And yes I have a shaky drivers powered mirror, a rattle in the firewall area, poor/rough idle, "piston slap"/engine vibration (5.4L) and chattering limited slip rear end (3.55). And for this I traded a good extended cab V6 Ranger with no problems (and much better gas mileage).

Well, it finally happened, after 59,000 miles, I can see the ever-so-small crack forming on the driver's side, not even noticeable right now, it's still pretty much under the molding. Ah well, it happens. I'm just going to put some paint sealer on it, if it gets really big (like over an inch and visible) I'll complain.

Btw, Anyone heard about a fix for this yet, and is everyone's new doors crack-free?

Evidently there is no fix yet for the door crack(?) I read this yesterday on Blue Oval News: http://www.blueovalnews.com/

(under...NHTSA investigating trucks with dual fuel tanks

Reported problems and vehicles to watch out for:

• 1997-2000 F150 door cracking:
Applies to 1997-2001 light duty F-Series supercab trucks. The sheetmetal supporting the secondary
door cracks causing a sheetmetal separation and paint cracking. Ford has no fix for this problem.

also:

• 4.6L and 5.4L V8 engines with piston slap:
Some of these models, mostly found in trucks, exhibit engine piston slap. It was generally believed
that engines built after April 1999 were cured of this problem; however, this may not be true.

Hey Guys. As I stated in a post before that I would let you all know how my 200 F150 did with the door crack. Well it was delivered on April 14, 2000. I now have a crack 1/4" long on the drivers side with only 20000 km (16000 miles). took it in on friday the Dealer said he would get in contact with Ford on Tuesday. It was the same service manager as last year when I took in another of our 1999 trucks. He said That it was the first one he had seen. (YEAH RIGHT!!lmao). So we now wait and see.
