Retrax: Anyone with experience with Retrax toneau?

I am looking for any feedback that anyone may have on the Retrax rigid retractable bed cover. Surfing the sites, it seems to be a better unit than the Pace Edwards and Dyna covers. I just got a 2004 SuperCrew and the Rhino Lining guy introduced the idea of a retractable cover. Positive or negative discussions welcomed.

A big for Retrax from me. I have one on this truck, and had one on my last truck. Of the ones that I have seen, the Retrax is defintely the retractable of choice for me. On a good note for you - the '04 SuperCrew cover is significantly cheaper than previous model years.

Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any specific questions about the Retrax, or want some pictures.

Another thumbs up here as well........I love my Retrax. It's great to be able to lock up my gear on road trips, yet also have the flexibility of hauling oversize items when necessary.

I paid around $850 for mine (SCrew '01) about a year and a half ago, which at the time was a pretty good deal. If they are much less expensive now for the '04's, I'd jump all over it!

JD - What's the reason for the big drop in price?

Ford changed the bed on the '04 SCrew- so the rails aren't tapered any more. They don't require as much time/labor to fabricate now, so they are actually LOWERING the price.

I just called retrax & was quoted $889 + shipping for our '04 Scab. This was for the generation 3 retrax. No raised canister by the cab. It's flush from front to back.

I think I'll get this one, just wondering if that is the best price. Time to surf the net.

Go here: http://www.thedieselstop.com/content...%20Bed%20Cover

You will find a name and number at the bottom of the page of a gentleman that is a Retrax rep. He will give you $100 off the cover for mentioning that you saw it there. I got one from him for my 2003 F-150.

Retrax Cover

I thought I would come full circle. I talked to Joe as the other poster suggested. He was knowledgeable and answered my questions.

I installed my cover this weekend in 1.25 hours, no sweat. I love it. It looks good and is as smooth as advertised. I have yet to test the weather seals but will undoubtedly get a chance soon. Now I can put my jumpers and tow strap in the bed where they belong.

Thanks Retrax for a fine product! And thanks to you other F150 guys!

What can we expect to pay for this Retrax? I want to make sure that I am getting a good deal. $100 off the price isn't so good if I don't know what a good price is to begin with...

Let me know what you guys who have them paid for them.

Thanx.

PS - How are these things when the weather turns sub zero's with the snow and dampness. Will they rattle quite loud or rust up or jam up?

More Retrax

You can take a look at http://www.netruckcap.com/retrax_main.htm for pricing but I really suggest you talk to Joe.

Sorry I cannot help with the electric lock.

Mr. Yellow FX4, I love the picture of your truck.

If you have seen the weather here in Chicago this winter we have had sub zero and snow and ice. Nothing has phazed the Retrax yet. It has high quality automotive weatherstripping so it does not shake or squeak. I have not got to test it in a monsoon yet so I cannot help there.

No buyers remorse. The installation instructions that the Retrax guys mailed me helped. It was easy. I had to install about 5 of the little rubber shims to get the 1/8 inch gaps on the supplied feeler gauge but that was no big deal.

Good luck.

found the electric tailgate lock at www.truckgadgets.com They seem to know what they are doing. Pictures on their web site really helped with the install. Took about 90 minutes

Retrax Covers

My husbands is very knowledgeable about all of the tonneau covers for the pickups. He can get LOW prices if you are interested in purchasing. You may want to look at his website at jnj@web4jnj.com. It's a great website.
