Cool

I'm not sure, but now would be a good time to add the "signal mirrors".

JFamor,

If cost is a factor, have you considered calling your local junk yard. Here where I live there are several who sell salvaged parts for cheap. A friend just replaced his cracked drivers side lenses purchased from the junk yard. If there is one in your area you would be surprised how clean and cheap parts are, mirrors included.

Question

OK folks, let me get this straight.
I have a cracked mirror on my drivers side. No thanks to my neighbor's kids playing soccor in my yard again.
Now if I understand this correctly. I have to replace the whole mirror assembly OR do I just need to buy a stick on type replacement mirror? Thanks.

Jupiterak,

Unfortunately according to my local Ford parts dealer, "Ford only manufactures mirror assemblies, both interior rear view and exterior sides".
To use a stick-on mirror provided you still have the entire mirror assebly will require custom glass cutting.

Thanks for the read.

I had to have both signal mirrors replaced in my 99' truck because of defects (the backing was coming off). They only had to replace the mirrors, but they did have to disassemble the door because the signal lights and mirror are one piece. They did not have to replace everything. Maybe that is a difference in the 1999 and 2000 models. The new mirrors in my truck are actually the new 2000 mirrors.

So -- if it's on Ford's dime, they replace the mirror -- and if it's YOUR dime, they replace the assembly.

Hmmmmmmm

Yo!

What's a passenger side mirror assembly cost? How difficult to install myself?

Oh....at night, in the rain, backing down a narrow driveway, with headlights shining in your face....WATCH OUT FOR THE TELEPHONE POLE!

Thanks, merry, happy,

KJK

I had the Divers side remote controlled mirror replaced on my 97 scab . They just replaced the glass. I watched them do it took about 3 or 4 minutes . It was cracked the servce guy at the glass place just broke the rest of the mirror out and put the new one in. He used some kind of glue on the back side . I drove the truck over 2 years till I traded it off this fall no problems. I think the whole thing was less then 25 bucks if my memory is correct !!
I know the cracked mirror about drove me nuts in the couple of days it took to get the thing replaced .
