Question Rust on tailgate ???

My door is cracked, both front doors are rusting my roof rain channels are cracked. Ford has definetely made a piece of **** this time. Does anyone know where the rust on the tailgate is. I assume it is in the same are on all of them. Any info is appreciated.
My dealer told me to let the rust on the doors get worse then he will replace both doors. This stinks my truck has only been on the road for 1 year and 7 months not 7 years. I have opted to ignore the rust and cracks and sell this before I am stuck with a beat up old pick up truck in 2 years.
I have talked to a lawyer and he told me that I have a suit against ford and that He can get me some money since there defective work is decreasing the value of my property. Maybe everyone should look into this and maybe then ford will step up to the plate on there shotty work!!!

I have an even older vehicle than yours...97 F-150 built in May of 97 and have none of the 'shoddy' workmanship you are describing. Perhaps a good deal of your rust is coming from road salt during NJ winters? I lived up in Pa for 2 years and can definately attest to the amount of salt on the roads. With the other problems sounds like you just got a lemon, however not all trucks are having these problems. We did a survey on the board before and only 10% said they were unhappy.

Sorry for your troubles, but take it to Ford. There is corrosion protection up to 100k but has to rust through.

I believe there are more then 10% of people with the door cracks and the rust. My truck has been on the road 1 year and 7 months. I have a 1987 Ford Mustang that has been driven through numerous winters and, has sat outside under a car cover for the last 2 since I got my truck, and there is not a spec of rust on the car. I maintan my vehicles well. I even waxed my truck before each winter. No vehicle should rust in this short period of time. This is not only happening to mine because I found out about all my problems on this site. I liked my truck till I found this site. This site is very informative and helpful.

I live in Minnesota (land of sand and salt). I don't care whose car or truck you buy, they all seem to rust here. I've Ziebarted every vehicle (except one) since about 1974 and I've not had any rust except on the one the dealer did (Non Ziebart). I firmly believe in Rust Proofing if you plan to keep a vehicle more than a couple of years. I have not had any problems with vechicles they have done for me.

My 2 cents.

This rust problem has nothing to do with rust proofing. This problem is in the seem of the door where the skins are welded to the door fram. It is rusting from the inside out. Not inside the door but in between the outside layer(skin) and the frame of the door. Open your door and all around the door is a half inch lip. Right at the edg of the lip on the frame side ther is little bubbles. So about an 1/8 inch after the lip there is little tiny rust bubbles all around the door. This is on most of the trucks I have looked at. It is rust, most people dont see it until pointed out to them. or the bubbles brake and you see the rust itself.
