Question Door Cracks?

I'm planning to purchase a new truck in the next few months. Should I be worried about these door cracks in my Y2K or newer F-150? I've already started considering the Toyota Tundra as well and this door crack thing didn't help any. Anyone have any advice?

I have heard that they have taken care of it for the 2000's and newer, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. Maybe someone else has heard differently than what I have, so watch the message boards for more advice. Everyone on here is more than willing to help out!!

Unhappy

The Tundra is looking better every day. I just can't seem to get past the brand name though. I know Toyota builds quality products but I've always wanted an F-150! It really disappoints me to see these types of things happening at Ford.

I have seen many door cracks but have yet to see ONE that appeared to be more than a cosmetic blemish. Mine looks like a quarter inch mustache hair! Only us 150 guys will ever notice it. Sure it's a problem and should not be there, but come on! Buy a Toyota because there MIGHT be something on your door someday that looks like a pube?
There are lots of things to base your purchase on. This issue should not be one of them.

onmilmhz,

If I were you I wouldn't even worry about the door cracks. I just found out that my 99 has a door crack in it. I went to the dealership today and the manager of the body shop said that they have been swamped with complaints on the cracks. He also told me that ford has known about the problem for a while and he said that when ford comes up with a fix it is defenite that there will be a recall to replace the outer door shell on both driver and passenger doors. I hope you make the right choice in trucks.

As far as I know..even the 2000s can develop the door crack problem. This is not a serious problem that will leave you stranded...it is like Kenster said...a "cosmetic blemish" that sucks and should have been fixed a long time ago! I would certainly not pass up the F-150 for the higher priced Tundra. EVERY vehicle has its own problems. The F-150 is a very fine, reliable, and fun truck!!

Well, I got my baby back. Very happy with the work they did. You can't tell they replaced the skin only.

I hate to say this but I've seen a post on this site somewhere that indicated someone who had a 2000 who thought they were safe developed a crack.
