Door/Roof gutter cracks 97 XLT
Just bought a 97 XLT. flareside 2 weeks ago. I looked all over this truck, thought it was spotless and well taken care of. It has 100,000 KM on it and costed me $18,000. I of course only found this website after buying the truck. After reading NUMEROUS articles about door crack etc. I took another close look and YES....DOH!! I have the damn door crack and then when I was waxing it this past weekend....DOH, I have cracks in the rain gutters on the roof. DAMN! Being a 1997 with 100,000 KM on it I guess that I am out of warranty??? Is there anything I can do??? Should I use touch up paint to try and fill the cracks??

I just bought a 98 F-150 about three weeks ago. It's in Very good shape and only 18000 miles. While I had the truck on hold,I found this awesome site and found out about the door cracks. The next day I went out to the dealer to see if it had the door cracks. Nope no cracks. Not yet anyway. We'll today I had to go back to the dealer because the jack was missing in my truck. While there I checked about eight or ten trucks. Five trucks had the cracks. Some on both doors,some just on one.

I had a 98 F-150 Supercab and it did have the roof gutter cracks after only 15,000 miles! No door cracks though in the 98.

Well I have both doors cracked and both gutters cracked a local body shop should have a silocone sealer to put in the gutters it is made to fill in minor cracks and waterpfoofs them. good luck!
