Texan -

I had the same problem. I went to a local auto parts store and found a radio antenna that looks like a cell phone antenna. It's about 16-18 inches tall and came with a number of double threaded adapters (in different sizes). I found the right one and put a dab of locktite (the grade that *can* be removed) and the problem was solved. I think the antenna even compliments the styling of the front end I experience *no* degradation in FM reception as a result of the "lower" height (and I live pretty far out from some stations!) - Good luck -

I thought about changing mine but realized that the first thing that hits a "low bridge" is the antenna ... a lot better than the roof of the truck. This was I at least have time to stop and make sure I'll clear.

Indyfan has revealed what many Expedition owners have found to be true. The antenna is an excellent "early warning" device for low clearances.

Post Radio Antenna too High

Picked up my new Lariat 4x4 Monday. Noticed the antenna strikes the garage door top and also the ceiling in some parking garages. Are there any after market antenna's that are shorter? Does anybody know a better solution?

I did like WhiteF150,went to Radio shack and bought a short flexible antenna with three adapters that looks good and is about 16-18 inches tall. Works as good as the original. It bends with the wind and if it ever gets bent over far enough to touch the windshield I know I'm going way too fast. {:-)

I bought a 12in. billet specialties antenna and it looks pretty good . The hard part is keeping it clean.

That was my very first mod. A Trenz billet antennae from Roger Lemere. It's a neat little addition and I get quite a few comments...plus the paint was already starting to come off the stock one (at 1000 miles) and hey, no more hitting the garage door!

Where in the online store are the billit antenna's? I looked for them in Billit accessories section, but did not see any.

I had the same problem so I picked up a black rubber whip type antenna at Radio Shack. REception is just as good as the OEM. If it doesn't work, Take it back. It's only $5.
