Question your bed!

HAS anyone removed there bed ????

I just bought my f150 a month ago and i just noticed the bed looks uneven about a .5 inch-

looking from the back and lineing up the corners with the back of your window(comparing each side )
??is your bed level?????--
ps i know the dealer performed the gas tank strap recall-does that require bed removal/?

Make sure your bed really is tilted. The gas tank is on the left side and could have about 200 pounds of gas in it.

Springs which are more heavily loaded can wear out faster, resulting in the vehicle sagging to one side. If you drive alone w/ a full tank of gas, your left springs are carrying about 400 pounds more than the right side. Which springs will wear out faster? The left!

Someone I knew had a racing shop test the springs on his old car - Big guy, small car. the left springs had worn and were like 5% softer than the right.

BTW, rear leaf springs usually sag or lose tension faster than coils.

I've noticed mine is uneven too. Not too much, but it is.

Mine does it too. I took it in and the service mgr had one of his guys spend about 1/2 a day tightening this and that. It went away for about a week or so. I would sure like to know if anyone else has/had this problem and knows how to fix it! Its a pretty loud knock that you can actually feel.

I pulled mine when I put a body lift on and it went back on level. I had to be careful and tighten each bolt a little at a time so it was even w/ cab...maybe a bolt or two got overtourqued on yours? You could loosen and then retighten with a torque wrench...you also need a torx bit. I forget the size but its on this website.
