canister

I was washing my spare tire and greasing up the winch system for the spare tire when I noticed that there was a plastic canister above where the spare tire is and it has a hose running into it but there is another spout on the other end that isn't hooked up to anything, does anyone know what this is for?

Hmmmmm, just a wild guess but could it be the vent breather hose for the rear axle?? Look around the differential housing and axle tubes for a barbed fitting or push on connection that the hose would reach to lengthwise.

Good luck.

Part of the vapor recovery system that is required on all vehicles manufactured in the USA to abide by clean air standards maybe?

There's one on our trucks .... somewhere... I bet that's it.

Pretty sure it's for the tank ..It most likely filters the vent air so you don't smell gas and freak out....
