Question Front License Bracket

I have a 2000 xlt 4x4 and want to remove the front license plate holder. Problem is after I removed the lower plastic tabs, it looks like the upper tabs that are slotted thru the top of the bumper were riveted into the bumper underneath. Short of cutting it off anybody know a fix. I feel the plate holder spoils the look of the front bumper and would like to run it without the plate and that contraption on it. Any help?

Mine will go soon too. If they riveted that piece of S*%t in then I'm drilling out the rivets...jeeeez are they doing that before they bolt up the bumper assy? gadzooks, another weekend shot.

Let me know what you do please.

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago, and here's what we learned:

A small angled drill, or removing the wind skirt under the bumper will allow you to drill the rivets out. The best answer is to cut the tabs with a utility knife. The bumper looks SO much better without it
