Question Tailgate weight capacity?

Hello all,

I often haul my ATV in the bed of my pickup but have to take out my toolbox in order to fit it inside. I recently bought a bed extender gate so I could put my ATV in AND keep my toolbox mounted.

The question I have is this: How much weight will the tailgate hold? The entire front end of my ATV will be sitting on the tailgate and it doesn't seem like a good idea with just the standard factory cables supporting it. I'm probably just being paranoid about it because I have to drive across the gate every time the ATV is loaded and unloaded - so it should be okay. I have alot of money into my ATV and truck... I just don't want either of them to be damaged.

Thanks for any help.

Dennis

I think you'll be ok. I've seen plenty of pictures from the factory of quads in the back of Screw's with the back tires on tailgate inside a bed extender. I also load my Banshee by riding over the tailgate and I haven't had any problems with the tailgate straps.

I think that is one of the many numbers in the reference section of the owners manual, though I could be wrong and often am.

Somewhere, I was told its 750 lbs for hauling and 800 lbs for stationary stuff (like 3 fat guys on it).

800/3= . .. . 266

yup pretty fat.

Do those numbers apply to all rf150 tailgates? Im assuming they all use the same cord to hold it up but maybe im wrong. Ill have to check my manual tommorw, ive always been kinda curious about that when i jump on mine.

bwt rtroha i love your truck, looks great.

Smile Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the input!

My ATV weighs about 650 pounds (full of fuel) so I should be okay...

I appreciate the information.

Make sure you tie it down really good so you don't get any bouncing on your tailgate. That could ruin your day.
