I bought the Flareside. Yes it cost a little more, but the LOOKS! I have always wanted a Flareside and when I went to buy my first new truck I went straight to the Flareside Fords. I frequently haul plywood and can easily get 4 X 8 sheets between the fenderwells. Don't want to insult anyone - we're all Ford truck lovers here - but I agree with Marv1. The Styleside looks like every other truck on the road - IMHO. I catch myself looking at other Flaresides as they go by on the road, yes I do notice the Stylesides also. Ford has really built the best looking truck on the highway - Flareside or Styleside!

Well Yesturday I picked up a new bed and it was a tight fit in my styleside.
Never would have fit in the flareside.
I do not like the Ranger with flareside.
Bed is too small lokking IMHO.
No way plywood would ever fit in there.

I happen to have the Styleside. One thing to think of though is if you like to mudding or similar hobbies. The Styleside does not have any inner fender liners under the box. You will throw mud, snow and anything else in whatever direction it decides to let go of the tire from one end of the box to the other. I have also heard of people finding rocks behind the tail lights from the tires. A Flairside should contain that much better than with a Styleside.

For looks I like the Styleside but for offroading, I think the Flairside might have an advantage.

Which ever way you go, happy motoring.

I finally bought my truck! I got a good deal on a 98 4x4 Flareside (details are in my signature). I compared my truck side by side with other stylesides at the dealer's lot and decided that the flareside rocks! Thanks to all for the feedback.

I was concerned about the size of the bed, so I put it to the test. I loaded 3 full size dirt bikes, 4 5gallon gas tanks, riding gear, and I went offroading with two of my buddies. No problems, everything fit fine and the handling on the dirt was great!

Cool

As you can tell by my screen name that I have a Flareside and I love it.

It sounds like you found out the same thing that all of us Flareside owners already knew.....Flaresides Rule!!!

Cool

Flaresides are most deffinetly the way to go. I owned a 98 styleside and recently purchased a 2000 flareside. I get alot more comments and looks in the flare than I ever did in the styleside

took almost a year to find my flair. most up here drive long bed styles, wouldn't trade it for anything. this is the second stepside i've had, and it's definitely better then the old style i had before. hauls plenty for me, dirtbikes and camping fishing or hunting gear.
definitely gets the looks and compliments too. styles look great too but i love my flair.
