Opinions on Jensen Amps?

Any opinions on Jensen amps? I know they were always considered pretty cheap, but it seems now they have more pricey ones. Are they worth it?

Just as 2Trucks mentioned they overate their outputs but other than that they are a pretty cost effective way to add amplification your signals. My recommendation is use one for powering subs. They won't drive subs like the big boys do but will deifinitely give you some bump. At decent listening levels nobody can hear the difference between that Jensen amp or a PPI. Then you can drop the $$$ on better speakers or engine mods.

Dont get jensen, they are bottom line. My personal favorites are the Rockford Fosgate amps. Even though they are a bit more pricey, they tend to put out even more power than they state.

jensen amps

I like Jensen amps. There are a lot of amps out there that are better, but as far as "bang for the buck", they and Profile are the best. I personnaly have a Jensen 4 x 75 watt rms amp in my truck. The amp drives my front door speakers and the rear channels are brigged to 200 watts driving a Kenwood excelon 12" sub. I have had this set-up for over a year and never any problems. My 17 yr old son took it to a local sound-off and hit 136db, good enough for 3rd place in his class. I will not say anything bad about any of the big names, except that I think they are overpriced. Any way my .02. Good luck and check all amps before you buy.

you get what you pay for

Although the Jensens are sufficient for powering very efficient speakers, the better quality speakers normally tend to need quite a bit more power to push them. Go to a few stores and check out the different combos before you buy. Before you plunk down one dime, find out what the return policy is if you aren't happy with any/all of the components. Good luck.
