System suggestions

I am getting a new system to replace the Piece of S*$t in my 97 ext cab. The only qualifiers are that it be XM ready and preferably direct link for both the changer and xm radio.

Thanks, John

I put an Alpine deck in mine, and love it. Mine is XM ready, but it doesnt play MP3s. But, there are many different Alpine decks to choose from. It is also a really good deck if you plan on getting extra speakers or subs. Let me know if you want specific info on it.

Ya I agree
Alpine makes a great head unit, I have had mine since 1999 and it has been perfect.

I also recomend the Scoshe adaptor plate to install the head unit.

Check out the Kenwood KDC X859 and a Kenwood Music keg. Awesome combo! See various posts.

Pioneer DEH-7400MP

- It plays MP3's
- It has CD changer controls
- It is XM ready
- It has a built in two-way crossover (HPF for speakers & LPF for subs)
- It has a Sound Focus EQ (SFEQ) this is a must when you have subs

I absolutely love mine!

Well, i didnt think that my alpine deck was that overpriced. But, i havent done too much looking around either. I payed around $300 installed with a warrenty, the warrenty itself cost around $30.

It is down to a Pioneer or a Alpine, along with 500+ watt amp and hopefully 2 subs.

I dont know too much about the pioneer deck, but i know that their amps and subs arent good. They are bottom line. If you could afford it, the alpine R-type subs(1000 watt) are awesome. But, it does take quite a bit of power to push those.

Get some Punch subs. They are good, and a lot of times you can get pretty good deals on them. Either that or JL subs.
