Short mast AM/FM antennas....

Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone makes a short mast (ie, lower than the cab of the pickup) AM/FM antenna for the F150/F250 LD pickups?

I'm now parking downtown in an underground parkade, and while there is plenty of clearance for the truck, my antenna bangs off nearly every water pipe and sign overhead....

So I'm looking for a high gain (ie, coil of some sort), short whip antenna, such as the cellular look-alikes, or a rubber stubby antenna of some sort to replace the stock Ford antenna.

Any ideas of a place to start looking, or if such a replacement antenna even exists?

Thanks,

Pat

I'm also looking for a shorter antenna. I put on new tires and now my truck sits about a half inch or so higher than it used to. My antenna hits on the door frame of my garage (it was close before, cleared by about 1/4 inch). Anywhere I can get a replacement? I only need about 1 inch shorter than the factory antenna. reakin

I put a Trenz billet antenna on my '98. They're stainless steel and about 18" tall. Reception is fine.

I paid between $20 and $25.

I have one on my truck and eventhough they look better than the stock antenna, the reception got a lot worse. It's not to the point where I would put the stock one back on, but it's not as good. I found mine for 8 bucks at Meijers. You need one with a specific thread pattern. Unscrew your stock antenna and bring it with you to make sure you're buying the right antenna.

Had the same problem...I just put a cheap one on and it seems to do fine. Get one that looks OK to you.

Peace, Dennis
