Question Factory Cd And Speaker Questions???

I have a 2002 F-150 lariat with the factory 6-disc changer and factory speakers.

I want it to sound better so my question is this,

I like the changer with all of the features it has and would like to keep it. Would it be worth it to just change out the front and rear speakers for better sound?? Would it make a difference?? can the factory system handle more speaker?? or do I have to change out the factory system to make it worth changing the speakers??

Basically I would like to know what other F-150 owners have done.

I also don't want to spend alot, maybe $500 or so. I'm not sure what it all would cost

Thanks

Speakers are the weak link and yes it's worth it. It's a great place to start and you can always add an amp or change the head unit.

Start with new speakers front and rear. You might find that is all you're looking for. It makes an incredible difference when you put some quality three way speakers in instead of the stock speakers (which cost only $4 to replace).
Even if the speakers didn't do enough, you will still need them installed to move to an aftermarket head unit.
After I installed 3-way Pioneers, I loved the way the factory system sounded. But, I wanted MP3, so I went with a Pioneer head unit.

I initially kept the original head unit, put in new Focal speakers and added an amp I took out of my Mustang along with some aftermarket speakers for the rear from the M as well.. I dynamatted the doors too.. Huge difference, but now I have changed the head unit for the Ford MP3 player.. another big difference because I can put over 100 songs on a CD..
Right now, Crutchfield has a subwoofer in a separate box that matches your interior for $150 and plugs right into your Ford head unit.. been a thread going on it the last few days.. that would help a lot too...
