Bring on the power!!!!

Since many of you have installed amps in these trucks before, I was wondering if you could recommend a good spot to bring the +12V power into the cab. Is there a factory hole in the firewall that can be of use? Hopefully I won't have to tear apart the dash to get it through. I want to get at least an 8-guage cable, maybe even a 4.

Thanks

There are several grommets in the firewall. I have mine run on drivers side, on my 97 there is a rubber plug with nothing going thru it, that's where mine runs through. Just find you one of those and make you a hole in there, try to keep it pretty snug. Maybe even dab a lil silacone if you wanna seal it off better.

Good luck and have fun....Toby

Yep! After all these years...it's still there (2002 model). Plenty big enough, and easy to get to! Thanks for the help.

That little door step panel thing on the passenger side. Pop off the kick panel, pop off the door jam thing, and you will see a rubbing seal, pop it out, drill a hole in it according to the guage of the wire, run it through, nice tight seal, no holes in the metal

What do you need with a 4 gauge wire.

I was told not to put a 4 gauge on any amp less than 1000 watts cause it didn't make a difference. Is this true.

well it depends on how long your cable is.

I'm running 2 gauge to a PG splitter and 4 gauge to my 3 amps.

if its just one amp and over 300 watts or so go 4 gauge.

and it might not make a difference but it won't melt..
and rember your ground wire MUST be as large as your power.
