Installing a new radio

I just got a new 2002 F-150. How do I take the old radio out so I can put in my CD player?

You can make that tool from a heavy duty wire hanger. make 2 "U" shapes the same size at the 2 holes on each side of the HU. Take the 2 hanger pieces, inset them approx 1-1 1/2" on each side and push out slightly. This will release the latching mechanism inside. You probably will have to fiddle with it a bit to find the right spot. After to figure it out once, it isn't bad at all.

Smile Call Cructhfield

I am about to upgrade my HU and install XM in my 2000 Expy. I called them and spent about $40 (including shipping) to get all the necessary things to make the installation go much smoother.

I ordered the mountain kit and wiring harness. They threw in HU removal clips ($3).

Without these items, you will need the aspirin bottle.
Good luck with your install!

after looking at the install procedures for the pioneer xm gex-fm903xm unit, which is the one with the fm modulator, it looks like I will only need to connect to the power for the radio with the xm tuner.

will need to connect yellow to terminal with power regardless of ignition switch position, red to electrick terminal controlled by ignition and black to ground. Where on the F150 would I find these connections?

Thanks

Post U-Shaped Pullers

F150AGOGO-

The U-Shaped Pullers are what you need to remove the Ford radio. Basically, they are two pieces of wire, each bent in the shape of a "U" about 3" high. They have notches on the ends of them. The two pullers are inserted into the holes on each side of the radio's front.

They will click into place. Once they do, remove the radio!

Good luck with your installation.
