Question FM reception boosting

I am looking for some information on what I can do to boost by FM reception, I just installed an Alpine CDA-7893 head unit on my Screw and the reception is not as good as my stock unit.

Any suggestions on what I can do to get better FM reception.

Where to get good antennas?
The antenna should be either a direct replacement or "no-drill" installation. I want a low-profile antenna.

Need some help! Static noise is ruining my listening pleasure

go to either wal-mart, or radio shack, or even your local audio joint, and get an FM booster. it just hooks up inline w/ your antenna cable, and takes a little bit of juice. seems to work quite well for me. email me if you have any ??

Good luck on one of those - I sure could not tell that they did any good. Of course that was years ago, so maybe they have improved.

Chester - good choice on the HU - just installed one of those myself. Can't wait to get some component speakers and a sub hooked up to it, and oh yeah, XM Radio if they don't go out of business!!

I have seen those in-line signal boosters, I will give it a try this weekend.

LightningCrew - The Alpine HU is awesome! Looks great at night and it's perfect for my other Alpine goodies! I also like the remote control, so when I am sleeping at the bed during camping trips, I don't have to get-up and change the station!

Get the CHA-S634 changer, it could play MP3.

You need a booster? You shouldn't , IMHO.

I have an Alpine 7892 in my L. With the stock "Premium" stereo I'd get some static on about 1/3 of the stations. Even 'The Loop' would have static, and I live 20 miles from the Sears tower. (I can see it on a clear day). After I installed the Alpine I was amazed by how many new stations I could lock onto that I didn't even know existed. I ran out of presets before I got to 99. Night and day difference to me. (Now that I have XM - what's FM? )

Alpine head units have a setting for tuner sensitivity. It work kind of like a local/dx setting. Perhaps yours is set on local? Also, check your grounds. And be sure your antenna is plugged into the headunit. Sometimes they get pulled loose when the inevitable bundles of wires get crammed back behind the headunit.
