Question Newbie Question about HU and new speakers

I've decided that I want better sound out of my stock system, but, I do want to keep the stock HU and Disc changer. From reading on here upgrading the speakers is a good choice. So, I like the MTX Thunderforms (loaded-amped and speakers), with some new door speakers and some tweeters.

Now for the questions:

1) Is this a good combination for great sound? (I'm not looking for ear shattering/ audio show output)

2) Should I replace, disconnect, or leave the current rear speakers?

3) What size/brand of door speakers and tweeters would be a good choice?

4) How does all of this get connected to the stock HU? (I can install myself, just need a little point in the right direction)

TIA,
Brett

Thumbs up Thunderform is good.

I've got a Thunderform in my truck and love it! I power mine with a MTX 4250D and it's great. I've heard that the powered Thunderforms are not so good. Don't know. I'm in the process of upgrading my stock HU with a Blaupunkt Hamburg and 4 Polk DX-7's. I have a little more room for amps and stuff than you do but that's what you get for having 120 more hp than I do!!
