CB install: where do I get power?

I bought my dad a new cb and I need to know where to get power. I don't want to run it all the way to the battery nor do I want to take up a power point slot. I bought the COBRA 75 WXST which you mount the box out of sight and most everything is in the handset.

Any ideas where to run the power and ground to?

It is a 2012 F150 XLT

Subscribing to this one. I'd like to know where the best place to get power is as well. Plan on putting my Cobra in over my holiday break.

I've normally done a fuse tap or tapped into the cigarette lighter positive with a scotch lock. The fuse tap in the fuse block is the easiest unless you have tear the dash apart to run the wires.

This is the fuse tape I'm talking about.

"Add a fuse"....to the accessory fuse port.....or if you want constant power splice into the cigarette lighter power point with a fused connection....

Run the power wires directly to the battery only. This will give the radio a cleaner power supply with plenty of current. It will also cut down on any ignition and other electrical noise that the radio will receive. It also helps to run a ground wire from the chassis of the radio to the chassis of the vehicle, this lowers vehicle noise as well. While you are at it, run a ground wire from the antenna mount to the vehicles frame. This will increase the ground plane of your antenna and make it operate more efficiently.

Can I ask where you plan on mounting it? I don't have a center console, I have a jump seat. I'm having issues where it won't hit my knees, and where i'll still hear it.

I had this exact problem too, I came across a video on YouTube that one guy just bought a 12V plug in that has positive and negative banana plugs, and I just use that to power my CB radio. Alot easier than trying to find to radio's fuse block to wire it all up there. Highly suggest others try it as well. Probably made my CB install 10x easier.
