Nice write up.The starter /transmission bolt has that other ground that wraps all the way around. I did that one on mine as well. It is good practice not to change locations of factory grounds.

I may go back and do it, too, for the heck of it. Assuming the alternator is bolted to the engine block properly (it should be), any bolt on the engine block should be perfectly okay to use as long as it's a clean connection.

Do you have a seperate engine to firewall ground on that model as well? That's what's factory on my model, - Frame to the starter trans bolt and Engine to Firewall.

Yet even a better pic of those lugs lol-

The engine to firewall is a tough one to get to.. I let that one go..

Probably is on the newer trucks. The 97-03's are a piece of cake, specially if you have the aluminum manifold.

I don't recall seeing one of those on the truck off hand. I know there's a heavy one back by the bed and cab seam. I have to give it a better look.

Going well man! Thanks for asking.

On the 04--08 its right behind the plastic tire well under the truck. Not sure where they put it on the older models.

Is the other cable in the pic you posted earlier your engine block to ground?

No that is the 0awg cable running under the truck going back to the amplifiers. I have put it in electrical conduit sleeving since that pic for more protection. In 2 weeks I will be ripping out my entire install to redo it for competition and will likely run that cable through the cab.

didnt you just finish redoing it? What are the plans now?

We expect a build thread with lots of pics...

x2. It sucks stopping to take pics all the time but I'd love to see you do this, too.

Excellent write-up and very detailed. Something that I needed a year ago when I did mine, would have really helped. I did get some good advice from here that helped me get it right, such as what SALL and JJDH mentioned. Also, I might add, for those of you who dont have a vice. If you use the connectors like mblouir used, like I did, you can put the wire and connector together on the ground, press a flathead screwdriver against it at somewhat of an angle, and whack it with a hammer until you get a really tight fit. This should do the job if you're short on tools and it's how we do it in the ghetto.

Nah I haven't touched my install since about a year ago. I still have the TBI tweeters/ID mids/Adire woofers with the Cadence/US AMPS amps all in my truck. All that equipment I posted like a month ago (old school Zed amps and Seas Lotus speakers) is going in along with the SI woofers. Also will be re-routing all the wires neatly under the carpet, heavily deadening the floor, and glass molding the tweeters into the pillars. I'm gonna whip up a quick box for the BMs tomorrow or thursday, still need to decide which will be staying in the truck: the SI's or the Adires.

Dont worry I'll take plenty of progress pictures.

My week off in 2 weeks will be the first time in forever Ive had no class or work for a whole week so I'll have lots of time to get this done finally.

Sweet! :beers:

I hear you about work and school. That was the first day I've had off in a while. Gotta take advantage of them.
