Viper 5701 Issues

I had this starter installed by a friend of a friend for really chaep. Now I am having a few issues and do not want to go back to that guy.

One issue is I love to use the keypad on the dirvers door, he said he hooked that up but when I use it the alarm goes off, is it possible to still ue the keypad without setting the alram off? (Remote starting the truck then using the keypad to unlock the doors)

Sencod issue is I have no idea what the blinking lights on the remote mean. It is a 2way and when I push the start button, there are some lights that flash on the 2way, what do they all mean?

Sorry, I have looked thru the manual but I am too stupid to understand

For the keypad, code alarm is the only one that works with the factory keypad, Travis at KC autosound figured out how to get the compustar to work by using like 3 extra relays, don't know if that can be done with a viper.

The door pad will not disarm the alarm, it will unlock the truck but the alarm will go off, this you cannot fix with a Viper alarm.

The lights on the remote, you will have to study the manual, I have a 5901 and the remote is a bit different but pretty intuitive.

Sorry you're having troubles but that was your first mistake. Either install it yourself or have it done professionally.

The lights are either one of two things. The amber (i believe) light is another way of telling you that the command was received by the alarm. The others (green i think) tell you the temperature inside the vehicle. All of this should be covered in your manual.

The only way (in theory) to make the keypad disarm the alarm on the viper is to figure out which wire sends the disarm pulse, and connect this to an extra taken apart key fob to simulate the disarm button being pressed. Vipers dont have a wired disarm input, seeing as if a thief got this wire, simply grounding it would disarm the alarm.

Like others said, having a "friend of a friend" install it for "cheap" was your first mistake.

a 5701 is a two way and a one way remote. the back of the remote tells you if it one or two way. on the two way the green leds on the sides show you what you which channel is being output. lock unlock etc. the orange led at the top of the one way shows the signal was sent. i've got one on mine and using the keypad sets the alarm off because it shows a door trigger open. depending on where he went to get the door trigger wires at. (either the domelight switch or the module behind the backseat on the cab wall. i haven't figured out a way to hook the keypad on the door to work either since it is really convenient and my daughter likes pushing the buttons and scaring the neighbors.
