Audio System Overhaul: Phase 2
I looked it over again this morning and the noise stops when I unplug the RCA's so it's got to be something other than the ground. My RCA's do not run with or even cross the power/ground wires. My crossovers are mounted to the left of my 300/4v2 (under the power wire "loop")...... could that be a problem? I've got the gains turned up pretty high on the 300/4v2 so I'm going to turn them down a bit and see if that helps at all. It still seems to be more of a grounding issue since it follows the engine RPM's but it's puzzling me because it stops if I unplug the RCA's -- It should continue to hiss.
Any other opinions?

I looked things over more time and adjusted the gains and played with the tweeter settings (-3db, 0db, +3db). The only way I can get the noise to go away is by disconnecting the RCA's. For that reason I do not think it is a grounding issue with my amps. It does seem to be coming from the tweeter more than the midbass or sub but I can slightly hear it in those as well. I'm leaning towards the headunit grounding as mSall150 suggested even though I've never had an issue using the factory ground wire but as of now I've got the headunit, xm receiver, and my parking brake switch grounded to it.

Here are some more pics of my progress. Everything is in and working great but I've still got to do a few things to completely finish. I want to figure out something for the top portion of the back wall so that when the seat is installed it looks completely stock (without a seat belt tower of course). I'm thinking I'll either cut the factory cover down or carpet the upper section -- I haven't decided which though. The main speaker wires from the amp to crossovers has to be changed out for a 12awg wire. Right now it's just 16awg because that's all I had. The other big thing is to get some of those rubber things that go behind the door speakers (like mSall150 has). Other than that I just need to tidy up a few odd and ends to finish it all off.
Here is a pic of the door prepped for the speakers. I know I didn't do the best job with the deadener but it sounds great and is much quieter (not to mention much more solid) than an OEM door. I sealed the MDF baffles and put some modeling clay between the baffles and the sheet metal. Supposedly this will help eliminate any rattles and/or buzzing.

A couple pics of the Image Dynamics CTX65CS component system installed:

The back wall and amp board as it is right now (keep in mind that I'm not leaving the speaker wires as they are now):

Thanks! Like I said I'm not done yet but I would say I'm about 90% finished. Where is your HU grounded? If I get a chance tomorrow after work I'm going to take out the HU and ground it somewhere other than the factory harness.

also, I removed my tower and bought a lap belt for the center seat also. Looks totally stock. The latches match perfect.

I have been debating the same thing. But when you put the back seat back in, you cant see the top edge unless you get up and look behind the seat. Ive thought about just getting a couple sheets of black foil sound deadener to cover the top edge, but the carpet sounds like a good idea as well. Lookin good. I have to get in and finish up my build here soon.

x2. I've been looking for one but haven't found anything yet.
msall...... do you think the 16awg running from the amp to the crossover is hurting my mid-bass performance? It's not too bad as is but I would like for it to have some more "impact". I'm going to change out that wiring to 12awg anyways I just haven't got around to it yet.

www.seatbeltsplus.com. their 2 point, end release belt is an exact replacement. it cost all of $18.95 plus shipping. I took the strap for the middle seat and the latch for the rear drivers side belt. The latch strap is longer than the factory latch so I just wrapped it around the bar under the seat and then ran it into the seat.
Also.... I figured out most of my amp whining issue. It was simply the ground point of the amps. Not even thinking I grounded both of them to one of the jack bolts under the seat which is where I had my 500/1v2 grounded when I was running it by itself. It dawned on me tonight and as soon as I gave each amp it's on grounding point the noise almost completely diminished! I've still got a tiny whine (almost inaudible) that I'm going to work on at some point in time but right now I'm happy!
