Question Dual Mode Radio Operation

I have a 97 EB EXPY and a 2000 EB EXPY. I have the dual mode audio system. I can get the headphones to work with and without the speakers working. What I can not do is get the Radion to play on the speakers and the CD to play on the headphones. The manual says I can do this but I can't get it to work. Am I missing something here. Is that not the point of the dual mode option?

First of all it is confusing. The dual mode works on the '00 only. I believe the little headphone icon needs to be displayed on the head unit first. Look in your manual for this. Now a headphone needs to be plugged in the correct outlet. I think it is the one on the left if only using one headphone. There should only be sound coming from the headphones at this point. Now you can choose a source from the headunit without affecting the headphones. Good luck. It does take a little patience but it does work. BTW our '97 did not have this feature.

They are smarter than us you know. How much is a plane ticket for a 5 year old. Since school is our you can send him my way and he can teach me. I'll pay the fare.

Thumbs down

Still no luck. When I plug into the headphone jack and press 3/5 I get nothing in the headphones. I have to push the headphone/speaker switch on the rear control panel. If I then go to the head unit and change source I still only get sound in the headphones and the head unit controls the source on them. I followed your procedure with the headphones plugged into both jacks. Any other ideas?

Okay finally here it is. Press the button next to the headphone. You can now here the sound through the headphones and front speakers. If you wish to listen to something different up front just choose it. If the rear wants to listen to something different just press the select source button. Remember this only works on the '00 model not your '97. Good luck
