Salesman at Circuit City pushing the Alpine (don't know model #) with 60 watts x 4. Says don't need amp with this hu to drive components (Polk dx, Boston, etc). Agree or disagree?
Would this hu take place of amp?
Wouldn't it get hot with all that power in the dash, considering that heater pipes are close in there as well?

 

I would not use a HU to power comps, unless they are comps that are lower end, meaning they require less power. Some component sets need at least 100watts and a HU will not do that.

Maybe lower end polk you get away with, but not Boston.
