USB in dash mod

OK, you guys may have already figured this out, but in case you haven't. The USB location on the F-150 is in a lousy location (better than the line in on my 07 was though!). I already snapped one flash drive off putting in a bag of groceries!!

If you open the ashtray, you can feel up into the right side of the Sync dash unit and you'll find a clip. unclip it and gently pry the sync face off. You can then unclip the usb from the clip and hook a usb cable up to it.

I then ran it down to the gigantic ashtray (wire runs behind the dash trim) and pulled out the ashtray (leaving a mini glove box). I put my harddrive in there and popped it closed.

My truck has a goofy little pocket to the right of the radio (no idea what I would do with it), so I got a usb extension cable, drilled a small hole through the back of the little cubby and fished my extension cable from the USB2 into this cubby. It works GREAT for plugging a flash drive into and the cubby holds it well! Now I don't have to worry about kids/groceries breaking off flash drives and my harddrive is concealed in the otherwise useless ashtray!

Hope that helps!

Is this better than the USB2 mod? Hard to tell without pics.
