How to Secure Amps to Back Wall???

I see a lot of threads and pictures about amps being mounted to either MDF or something similar and mounted to the back wall of the cab.

I currently just have one Kicker ZX300.1 pushing my sub, but my new amp came in yesterday for the remaining speakers. I just have the current amp kind of "placed" back there now, but I need to do something more permanent and secure now.

I understand mounting the amps to the MDF of course, but how are you securing them to the back wall of the cab? Are you drilling through the cab itself? Or is there something else I am missing here?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Anybody?

I've seen tons of these setups on various trucks all over this site. Anyone have some input for me please?

get some self tapping screws that are about 1/4 inch longer than the thickness of your mdf then screw those into the raised sheet metal. I don't recommend you drill a hole through the cab i use 3 screws on the top of the boards and one on the bottoms.

I did the same thing as above when I had mine mounted to the rear wall. Worked great and never had any problems with the amp board rattling.

Thanks for the help and advice! Now just to find a way to get both of them back there on a piece of MDF to avoid all the other stuff back there on that wall

Thanks again

Just to offer an alternative, I just used a ton of double faced tape. I pulled back the liner, cut the board to fit, then put a bunch of that 3M double sided moulding tape to hold the board up. It's the same stuff used to secure vent visors on the outside. I found a roll of it at Walmart. Once the board was in place, I put the liner back on over it, and it's solid as a rock. Then I screwed the amp down into the board.

I don't like drilling if I don't have to.

My amp seemed too tall so I skipped on the MDF back wall. I used self tapping screws and some 3/16" chunks of rubber I had laying around to isolate it from the truck as little washers. Just screw into the raised portions so you don't screw to the outside.

I mounted my MDF to the back wall using LiquidNails. So far, 8 months, no problems. Still solid. I have 2 amps mounted to the MDF and its holding strong. If I ever get any wobble to it, I'll probably add a few self-tapping screws to it to help support it.
