MTX re-Q

Is this the easiest way to connect subs to a factory HU? In the future I'm considering going to an OEM nav headunit (I've got my Pioneer for sale now but the OEM nav will probably be in the distant future the way things are going now ). I the factory look but would want to retain use of my aftermarket speakers.

The other question is this....... instead of cutting the OEM wires and connecting them to the re-Q would there be a problem with simply "tapping" into the wires with some scotch-locks or t-taps? I'm not wanting to amp the door speakers. I would just install a line-out converter but I want the bass to be as linear as possible. OEM radios tend to reduce bass quite a bit at high volume and I don't want to deal with that.

Funny you asked this - I was just on the phone with JL Audio tech side about their CleanSweep and I also asked about using the scotch locks - the tech said he would not advise it. Said the scotch locks were not good quality and this was a poor method to use. He recommended cutting the wires - but obviously leave enough on the factory plug so if you need to put things back to factory you can.

Thanks! The only problem I see with not using scotch-locks is the fact that I will be using my OEM deck to power the front speakers until I get an amp for them and I need the signal to pass through my OEM wires and to the re-Q as well. I guess I could cut the wires and solder all of it back together but I didn't really want to do that since it would have to be done inside the truck. I contacted tech support about the re-Q and they said the scotch-locks would work but they are not the best connection.
