Question AUDIO EXPERTS! My system.....?

Wadup everyone

Car: 2001 F150 supercab (4.6l)

So far i have put a sherwood deck in and blapunkt overdrive seperates in the front.

the rear im putting weird Jbl seperates (all 5.25 speakers)

I have a 6 Yes i said 6 channel BOHEMUTH amp, like 5x35 sub1x100, its a bruiser and takes up about 6 feet in length (just kidding but its BIG)

Now Im trying to use that amp to power my seperates.

Now the fun beggins. 4 inch lift on rear seat. 4 10" ULTIMATE subs (have no idea what they are or anything, totally trusting the audio guy who is telling me they are good and clearing out subs or they are going out of buisness something like that, but he can get them cheap).

now the amp hes going to get me is a 1200watt Planet Audio. WHAT THE HECK IS PLANET AUIDO? Is it any good? Theoretically it wont push out 1200 watts will it?

I asked him about getting a cap for my battery thats likeeeeeeeeeeeee 1 ferret or 1 and a half, buttttttt he said the power going from the amp is ummmm not stable but constant? So i dont neccesarily need one, but i could get one for 125 xtra.

Some one please help me out and educate me. I told him i wanted to get something (in my price range) that sounds GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD and hit pretty hard, this is what hes setting me up with. BUT I HAVE NO INFO ON ANY OF THIS STUFF...someone please educate me, tell me what to do differently or something or if what im doing is good, Audio guy said they would hit as hard as infinity perfects, maybe even harder

please help me? THANK YOU

Thumbs up

PLanet audio is a trusted name however i have never heard of those speakers before and it sounds like putting 4 10's of whatever they are is compatible to getting 2 competition subs at around 200$ each. Check the model number to whatever your getting then look at a website called www.thezeb.com this site has everything for really cheap. I would go with 2 very good 10's like IDQ or Infinity perfects. You will not get very much airspace under that seat even raising 4 inches at most 2.5-3.0 and for 4 woofers that is nothing. perfects are 200 and the idq's are cheaper i think. check it out.

You need to do more homework. Putting separates in the cab as rear fill is a waste.
Better to use a decent set of coax speakers, and spend the money on a good set of separates for the front. Planet Audio is generally respected, but I suspect that you may be also getting a great sales pitch. Go here: http://www.clubknowledge.com/forums/...llation_Forum/
There are several respected Install fellows and Store Owner types who are quite helpful and knowledgeable. Put your question on the forum. You'll have several answers from genuine car audio pros real fast. Good luck.

Yea well I screwed up on my seperates IM SORRY! Im only human..But they will sound better then stock in the rear right? The front seperates are fine, I like them and think theyll work out nicely. I know i need to get more info, and I was hoping "yall" could tell me something, anything. The ultimates have the same rigid design of the perfect but im sure are a lot different. I think everything will sound nice amped. thanks for the info, I could use alot more and I apprciate the help so far, ill check that site out.

Ultimates are very good subs. Depending on the model you are planning, they don't require much air space. The 10's are happy with .5-.75 cubic ft. I would think though that using 3 10" dual voice coil subs wired in a parallel/series circuit would be much better.
For my own system, I have a Kenwood deck, MTX 4180 4ch amp, MTX 6.6 seperates, and MTX Blue Thunder 12"sub in a custom box. I am still using the stock rears with an 120Hz crossover.

Well, your system sounds to be coming along. Your separates were not necessary but will sound better than the stock ones for sure.
As for the subs, Ultimate subs are pretty good. My good buddy is running them in his F150 (10's) and they hit cleanly. Any decent sub will sound good if the enclosure is done properly. Firing the subs DOWNWARD under the rear seats is the best way to go. To do this, a long excursion woofer as the JL W0 speakers work the best. Ultimates will do fine. I am running 2 JL W0 10's in a perfect fiberglassed eclosure firing down powered by a RF Power 100 amp...hits extremely clean and hard. The seat was only raised about 1 3/4 inches and looks factory.
One thing is for sure, after your subs are in, your system will sound 1000 times better than the WEAK stock Ford stereo.
Send some pics of the finished product...

Thanks Ill get some pictures of the system when im done. Then the truck when its lifted soooooooooooooomeeeeeeeeeeday Why fire the subs downward? I think he said he was going to fire them angled towards the rear window....but i could be wrong (most likely). THanks for the tips, I hope it works out, you think ill need a "cap" for my battery?

Your biggest thing you need to worry about is if all you are putting in will be compatible. you should really try to stick to one type of speaker and an amp that is made for those speakers. the equipment canbe great but if you don't put the right stuff together it will perform pretty weak compared to what it should. the best setup for an f150 is crossfire. They are very clean and clear and thump like crazy!!!!

Compatible can mean a lot of things. The 1200watt rating on the Planet Audio amp can mean 1200watts peak or RMS. My guess is that its peak. Otherwise the Ultimate 10" subs would have to handle 300watts each as a minimum in order to handle it. I run an MTX 12 that isn't rated that high. More than likely the shop is running the amp in stereo at a 2 ohm load. (2 4 ohm subs wired in parrellel creates a 2 ohm load. The rear components are overkill, but if you like them, then fine. It's what you like that ultimately counts. Raising the seat can create some awesome bass, but I don't really believe that you would hear much difference in the bass. The output may be a little greater, but the sound would be nearly the same. Good luck and hope to see some pics soon.

Cool

System is in-

Very nice. It hits very hard when turned up. I like the arrangement. he put the jbl speakers in the rear, no tweaters on them, attached my overdrives in front. then the box. 4 ultimate max pb 10's in a custom sealed enclosure. They mounted the amps in front of the box, where you can see them so now theres TWO amps one big one small (1 to speakers one to subs) right where your feet hang down. Kinda bothering me, only complaint about the system. OH ya and its hard, really hard, to see outa the rear view mirror...near impossible.

Will those amps burn peoples legs? Can i put something over them? anyways thanks for bearing with me pics as soon as possible.
