Upgrage question
Hey guys, I want to upgrade my system on a budget. I currently have the stock audiophile system in my 05. I have a pair of decent pioneer 6x8's ready to go in the front doors and I have a old Rockford Fosgate punch 40 amp. I'll be adding a new HU probably a DVD unit. My question is this, should I get a new sub and use the punch to power it and let the HU power the door speaker or should I use the punch to power the front door speakers and buy a new sub AND another amp to power it? I'm looking for crispness and quality not full on rattle your fillings out bass. (although on occasion I like to feel the thump
) Thanks.
Here's a pic of the old skool amp.

) Thanks. Here's a pic of the old skool amp.

I am running a p3100dvd HU...plenty of power to my polk 6X8's. I am not looking for blow your doors off loudless..but that dang HU impressed the heck out of me. I actually installed the Polks before I got another HU and I thought that the Polk's sucked ! After I got my new HU I have a whole new respect for those DB571's. Since you are like me and not wanting blow your doors off bass.
I would get another HU look at the P4000DVD or the p3100dvd
If you are not handy and do not want to bother building your own box then look here : www.supercrewsound.com for a sealed box.
take the internal volume on the box and find a sub that matches the following criteria :
Mounting depth (unless you decide on a seat lift you are pretty limited here too)
Power handling (If you are wanting to use that amp you have) I would suggest you spend some $$ on a new monoblock amp
Airspace (Make sure that the sub you are looking at will work in the airspace you have)
Most of the time I always suggest to find the sub first and then build the correct box. (in our cases the airspace under the back seat is all we got unless you want to build something in the backseat itself... which is also assuming you have a supercrew. You can always look for a JL audio stealthbox....(I am a little biased here)
