Post General What to Get Myself for Christmas Questions...

I would like a really good system, preferably, one that won't require that I go to the bank and borrow $2000 or more (maybe this is an inconsistency).

Some elementary questions (I am new to F150s):
What are QForm kick panels?
Is the Pioneer 6x8 TS-A6895 better than the JL Audio TR570-CX or XR570?
The Pioneers take 60 Watts to drive - with four of them do I need a 240 Watt minimum amp?
Any receivers you might recommend?
Any amps you might recommend? Someone posted that the Fulton Depth Charge is highly recommended for the price...? I can get a 500 watt Jenson at Sears for $199. Is this stupid?
What about a good subwoofer? (Do I now need more than 240 watts?)
Is Dynamat a good listening investment?

Thanks for all comments, pointers and help in this matter.

TIA,
Wayne aka Chemist

Cool

Hey Chemist, just to show that you don't need to spend a lot of money on a system, let me share with you how less than $1500 will get you some decent sound.
  • Sony CD player CDX-M600 $350
  • Lanzar Equalizer e750S $100
  • Two Profile Amps (on sale $100 each) one pumps 4x50w for the Polks and the other is bridged to 1x300w for the sub
  • Two pairs of Polks DX7 $150 each (not cheap but well worth it.
  • 12" Kenwood Db+ 250w RMS (1000w max) and Q-logic Type 2 (ported) box $300 for both
  • Monster cable from head unit to amps and from apms to speakers, and power cables $150
Labor was done by me and a couple of friends, I saved about 300-400 bucks right there. I just took them for some nice dinner after we finished the job.

I asked Santa for a digital camera so if I get it (don't see why not, been a good boy all this year) I'll shoot you a couple of pics of my setup, if you are interested.
