Post Mounting new headunit???

To those of you who are installing aftermarket headunits...how are you securing the back of the new radio in the dash to keep the unit from skipping?
I took off the rubber deal from the back of the stock radio and mounted it on my headunit. Also using a dash kit from Best Buy. Haven't had a chance to see if it skips yet because my amp isn't in yet. Was wondering if you used a backstrap or what you did to prevent skipping? I didn't use anything on my 97, not even the rubber plug, and it skipped sometimes. Ideas?
Thanks

slowguy, I installed a Pioneer (deh2100)CD in my 2001 SCrew a few months back . I used the rubber plug that I took off the factory unit, but I recall I also had to bend up a bracket that supported the rear of the factory unit. This rear bracket serves to give the rear of the new unit support, and combined with the rubber plug it fits nice and tight. No skipping problems at all.

hi slowguy
get yourself the scoshe face plate adaptor, it has a bracket that slips onto a track inside your dash. It is a very solid unit, much better than the Metra unit.

Thanks for your comments. The CD Player is much better at skipping than it was in my 97. It still skips over big sharp edged bumps and off-road on rough fire-roads.
I will look into that mouting unit by Sosche. I have one from Best Buy and it doesn't have the track deal, although I don't remember if there is a track in my SCrew? Anybody remember if we have a track on our Screws?
Thanks
