Factory CD Changer
Just wondering - Is it possible to use the factory cd changer with an aftermarket head unit? TIA

When I checked into it a year ago I was told no. You might call Crutchfield and check with them though. If they do let me know. I still have mine sitting around collecting dust.

Kenwood 4011 stereo, USAcoustics 2150 amp, Profile electronic 3 way crossover, 2 10" IDQ DVC's, and Polk Dx7 5x7/6x8 3 ways in the front doors.
FUTURE PERFORMANCE MODS:
4.10 gears, Edlebrock shocks, Magnacharger, Airaid, and slotted rotors.
OTHER FUTURE MODS:
Ram Air hood w/functional ram air, suspension lift, 17" polished wheels, 35" tires, and sunroof.

Travis - Yes I would be interested in selling the factory changer - I decided to go a different route and changed out the head unit and dont need it now. I've had the truck 2 months & played maybe 4 cd's in it so it is literally brand new - not sure what a fair price would be though. Care to make an offer?

Check the past topics to check on C.D. changer prices and problems.
My factory unit died at 3&1/2 years. I bought a reconditioned unit from an authorized factory ford audio distributor for $200. He said the optics go bad and when they are rebuilt they are generally upgraded.

I dunno what's fair? Don't want to insult you, but would like to have yours. Do you know if the 97 is the same as the 2000? I have heard different names (pioneer, kenwood) and I just want to make sure it would work on mine before we get to the haggling. I have seen 150-200 rebuild prices so I would want to be in that range. LEt me know...

Well,no I'm not sure if it's the same - mine has a clarion label on it - and a 12-pin connector (2 rows of 6) - if it will work for ya I'll take $125.00 for it.
