Brandmotion Ipod Controller Hissing
Brandmotion Ipod Controller Hissing
I just installed the Brandmotion Ipod adapter. Really simple install. It took me about 5 minutes after watching the install video from their website. However there is a very pronounced hissing sound coming through after a whiny buzz that actually sounds like the disc in the Ipod starting to spin. Strangest thing. I have the factory adapter in my mini cooper and have no problems there. I unplugged and replugged everything and that didn't help.
This is a huge bummer. I'm driving from Socal to Salt Lake City next Saturday and this will be a problem. the reason I did it was because I can't stand the nonsense that comes with using FM modulators.
Anyone else have this problem - any ideas?
Thanks.

I'm no sure if it's the same problem but I've recently noticed my iPod makes a strange noise between each song - a click or two and then yes, a sound that resembles or could be the iPod hard drive spinning up. I too have the Brandmotion adapter and I use this iPod in and out of the truck. The noise only happens when in the truck conected to the adapter.
Ideas???
Ideas???
Just throwing this out there again. I still have the same issue and am heading on a LONG road trip next Friday. Please help. Anyone having this issue? Anyone from Brandmotion here? I've emailed through the website a couple times and have received not response!
Thanks,
Karl

If it were me, I'd take that iPod, and listen closely, to the sound it made when hitting the pavement
I'll tell you what, this time around, I bought a deck with a USB input... a Kenwood Excelon X792 (but I think most mid-level, and higher decks have these nowadays) and I have all of my music collection stored on a $29, 8gig flash drive. All totally accessible from my deck.... scrolling through folders and files is a breeze... it tells me all the info from each file.... no need for an iPod whatsoever.
This setup is just the shiz !
Still remember all the fumbling around with CD's back in the day. What a PITA that was !
Peace,
Fish
PS, Come to think about it, if your deck will control an iPod, it will probably work with a flash drive too, correct ? So why don't you just run down to the closest place, and pick up a 2gig, or 4gig flash drive (probably on like a clearence sale, since 2's and 4's are considered small nowadays) for like $12.99, and dump 300 or 600 songs on it, then see if it gives you the same hissing your iPod does ? Cheap test, and if it works, problem solved.

Okay, I got you now.
I know I saw a Kenwood Excelon X692 a while back (which does basically everything my X792 does) for only $129 ! What a freaking steal !
