Right connectors - missing wires???

I printed out this thread and begin the install of my Motorola Car Kit for my T720. I already had a bracket form the Nokia kit that was in the car and now successfully mounted in my dad's 93 Town Car.

Everything is working out nicely (except for the adapter for the antenna wire that I had to order that isn't here yet).

Now, for the hard part:

I have the OEM single CD player in my 2000 F150. I have the 16-pin and 20-pin connectors, but the 20-pin connector does not have wires #10, #11, or #12 in the connector. My radio does have the Mute/Phone button. I presume this will work if I can find a way to attach the wires?

Is there somewhere to buy the pins/wires that will fit into the 20-pin plug? I have done this on computer plugs in the old days, so I can do it if I can find the right parts.

Thanks for any help you can give.

John

Flareside guy,

You technically COULD add the wires to the existing harness but I looked at it and decided that ordering the harness discussed in this thread was a much more valuable investment of my time

Flairside Guy,
Seriously, order the kit mentioned in my earlier posts that someone else reccomended to me, came in less than a week and the install took minutes, shoot, it took me longer to get the dash apart and back than the hook up.

The sound comes through the factory speakers and can be adjusted using the radio's volume control and when I hang up, tunes are back...

It mutes the radio when a call comes in, (I set my mobile profile to use Auto-Answer) so if I'm jammin down the road and a call comes in, I don't even have to look away from the road. When they hang up, the phone hangs up, and the tunes are back on...

I'm about to put one in my wife's ride 'cause I can't stand the "Old Tech" way...

dgoebel,

I should have looked more closely - I thought the kit was for when you didn't have the plugs mentioned -- that will teach me to skim.

Just called NCICellular -- talked to Mark. He is shipping mine out today!

Thanks for the great advice!

WOW - Kit works like a champ!

Finished the install today after the kit came. My adapter that I forgot to order for the antenna came in yesterday, so all is now well. Mounted the microphone on the steering wheel as shown in the pictures in this thread, no speaker to fuss with, and no wire to run to the battery!

I have a Motorola kit for my T720, so Mark at NCICellular added the Motorola adapter as the kit mentioned above is for Nokia. The adapter kit came with two parts - the adapter for the power plug and the adapter for the speaker connection.

It was late in the day and Mark shipped that day and called back to let me know about the adapter - his email is markm@ncicellular.com or the website is www.ncicellular.com.

Bringing back this oldie but goodie. I just finished installing my car kit for the motorola i730. The advice in this thread was, well, uh, put it this way, with out this thread I would not have been able to make the car kit work with the factory radio. Thanks to everyone that contributed. Just to add a little bit to this one........
I have a 2000 F150 XLT with a later model 6 disk in-dash changer. I have the factory 16 pin and the 20 pin connectors, although the 20 pin has very few wires in it. I used bare, non-insulated, butt connectors to make my own connections in the empty #10, 11, and 12 holes. I just crimped the mute and speaker wires from the car kit to the butt connectors and then pushed them on to the radio pins through the factory plug. In other words, while the plug was connected to the radio I located the #10, 11, and 12 slots(they didn't have any wires going to them) and pushed the butt connectors into the blank holes and then taped the newly added wires to the radio harness to make sure they didn't pull out. Worked like a champ. Radio now mutes when I use the phone and I hear the person on the other end of the phone through the car speakers.

Thanks,
Chad
