Attention Soundproofers!!!!
Got a question for you guys - I just installed some Pioneer 6x8 3 ways in the fron and Pioneer 2 ways in th ack. These speakers actually thump some pretty good bass. I put Dynamat around each speaker(just a small 1.38 square foot sheet). However, I am getting terrible vibration from the back. It seams to be the door panels that are making all the noise. Hae any of you guys soundproofed the doors and STILL getting the vibration from your panels? I am trying to figure out if soundproofing the doors will stop the panel from "jumping". Also, anybody have a solution to the cost of Dynamat? Any alternatives? Thanx

I have a '97 F-150 SC and my back drivers panel was vibrating. I did sound proof but that is not the fix. The fix is taking the panel off and looking at how they attached it to see if you can tighten it any or just deadening the panel somehow.

I originally had the same problem. I did two things to fix the problem:
I added sound baffles behind the speakers, ordered them for 8$ from Crutchfield.
Then I ordered BeQuiet and applied to the entire door, I actually did the entire vehicle. the stuff was real inexpensive and worked great.
I think the lock mechanisms are where the vibration originates, the baffles eliminated that problem. You could also try some electical tape on the bars that operate the rear door locks.

The foam speaker baffles will help without a doubt. I had a problem with my door skins rattling also. My solution was to Ospho the inside of the door skins(a rust killer) then apply Herculiner to every surface inside of the door I could reach. Not only did this stop the vibration, but just about every other sound in the world. Truck sounds like I'm riding in a Lexus now. It will also never rust inside the doors either. Just don't seal up the drain holes at the bottom of the doors.
Dynomat or B-Quiet the entire door. Made
a world of difference on all four of my doors. That factory plastic sheet will thump
like a snare drum if you don't.
