Thumbs up Stereo upgrade in 99 supercab

I just whant to let everyone know. I just did a complete stereo upgrade to my tuck. I used the factory head unit and changer, but I had to install a high to low singal converter. I must say that I think it sounds great. I installed 5.25'' seperates in the front doors and 2way 6 by 8's in the rear doors, and qforms sub encloser with a single 8'' and sound stream 5ch amp. lastly complete Street Wires cabling. Any question please feel free to ask.

Hey Scott,
Just curious about your Q forms sub unit. I purchased a fiberforms dual 8" color matched unit that fits under the rear seat. I have an MTX bridgeable amp running it w/speaker inputs hooked to my rears. Been thinking about upgrading my speakers though. Ever thought about putting some tweeters in those corner window pieces that pop out? Maybe paint to match and attaching them to your 5.25" in the doors via high end X-over? It sounded great in my 4-runner so I think it will really enhance the highs.
I agree with the stock head I don't want to replace it because nothing else will look as good (personally).

The Qforms is a single 8'' sub the fits under the drivers side rear seat. I whanted to have at least one rear seat fold down. I used some adapters in the front doors for the 5.25's and the tweeters fit right on top the plate. I did think about putting the tweter in that removable door piece but on the 99 and up trucks the door panel are one piece. It does sound like a good idea also. I am still fine tunning all the levels. I still can go another route still. I have a Sony xe1000 electronic cross over I can use if I don't get the sound Im looking for.

Sure I could put something together. I spent about 12+ hours doing this install. I had to take apart the whole rear of the truck to do it. I also use all street wires for the wiring. I think all told I spent $810.00 for the upgrade more than I whanted to spend, But it was worth it. I also forgot I did cover the rear of the thruck with Dynamat since there is no sound insulation at all.

Do you have any pictures of the install(s). Also, wiring diagram/explanation for those of us who don't know what we need to upgrade stereo systems would be a help.

Nice install. One question? Isn't the front cover of the sub enclosure suppose to be even with the front of the seat, not sticking out? Al the pics I've seen the enclosure is even. I'm about to install into mine also. I lifted my rear seat to fit in tens though. Does yours sound good?

The Qform fits just like that it does stick out some. It is all the way back
towards the rear firewall. I think the new sound system sound is excellent.
All the speakers are getting broken in, and im cranking up pretty good. Im
still working on the levels but I think have it pretty close now.I have the
sub crossed over at 50hz. This is my first time using dynamat and it really
keeps lots of road noise, and improves the sound system overall.

Scott,

That looks great! What model amp did you use and where did you purchase it?

I am about to do a similar upgrade to my truck.
Thanks

I bought a Sound Stream 5ch amp, This was brought from www.soundcityoutlet.com. It was a close out. These amps were supposed to be for the euro market that didn't sell well. I only paid $129.00 for what a deal. I'm not sure if they have any left. I think it sounds great. I still can expand this system with Sony electronic cross over to tweak it more.
