Question 99 F-150 Stereo

Does anybody know where I can get a factory Ford cd player for a 99 F-150 without paying the $750 dollar price at the dealerships?

Or does anybody know where I can get a good aftermarket stereo that fits exactly as the original did?

Thanks

Cool

I cant help you with finding a factory unit.Their are alot of aftermarket brands that will fit EXACT but they will cost. The original is a Double Din which is 2x the size of an average cd unit.Alot of the aftermarket DD have many extras like CD and Tape play or and Graphic EQ with Spectrim analizer. You can find a Pioneer Double Din with CD and Graphic EQ with Spectrim analizer for $400-$500.Their are nice install kits that will fill the area in nicely when installing a regular size(single din)head unit.I wouldnt waste any money on a factory unit:NO POWER,NO FEATURES!!!!!!

I may be wrong but it seems it's only a 1 and 1/2 din sized unit. There are aftermarket units in that size too.

The dash opening is of the double din size. However the space in the dash is only that tall a few inches back, then it tapers off to about 1-1/2 din high.

Fordtech,

I got a OEM radio for my F-150 from:
www.radiosandmore.com

I got an indash 6 disc cd changer for $650 (shipping is free). A little steep, but well worth it. Much nicer than the magizine type that you mount under the seat etc,,,what are you looking for?

WOW! Your dealership only told you $750.00! My local dealership told me $940.00 PLUS labor to install it (I checked back when I had my 98). All of this for a single in-dash CD player. I told him this was BS and he looked up a different part number..then quoted me $600-something.

I was able to have them quote me 4 different prices, with the lowest being $540.00 (I left the first time, called back the next day..and stopped in again a month later). This is partially the reason that I traded in my 98 (and drove 90 miles to the same dealership I bought my 98 from and ordered my 2000). My local dealership is crooked.

It does fit in the F-150 with a little modification. Behind the stereo is a piece of plastic you have to cut away for the changer to slid in. The wiring harness is the same so no splicing of wires. It was fairly easy to install. It took about an hour to an hour and a half to install. It fits perfectly and looks like it came from the factory.

Also, You can also sell your old unit back to them!

Fordtech,
I too was looking for a factory cd player for my 97 f150, but after a long look and high prices for a factory unit i gave up and bought a aftermarket system. The reason i wanted the factory system was to keep the factory look, but that would of been a mistake! I all of my other cars i bought alpine's but this time i bought a blapunkt alaska with the thummer remote for the steering wheel and i'am very happy with it! My best friend has the same truck as mine and he paid $450.00 for a factory head unit and it does not even sound close to as good as mine and i only paid $280.00 with shipping from crutchfield, and they sent me everything i needed even the tools to take out old radio out! The install took only 30 min from start to finish no problems at all! And now i have a high power deck with tons of useable options! and it matches the blue lights in my dash and looks better than factory unit with out the "light show" of most new decks on the market I was very happy with the way it came out and glad i did not buy a factory deck. I will post a picture of my install if people post they want to see it.
