getting new system, what should i get?
Here are 2 good general audio sites http://www.eatel.net/~pbabin/elecdisc/caraudio.htm http://www.sounddomain.com/forum
Check them out lots of good info.

Thats the biggest problem with the subs, they take up 1.5 cubic feet. But I couldn't pass them up at only $50 a piece. I would have got JL's if I were building a high end system, I think the JBL's will be fine. However because of the large area needed I might only be able to use 1 of them. As for head unit I am going with the Clarion 7575z. The biggest reasons are 3 outputs and because I have the factory changer which is a Clarion. Want same brand HU so it will work right. I do agree with you guys though on Kenwood and Alpine. Had a Kenwood in my Toyota 4x4 and it was awesome. Thanks for the info everyone.
The Audiobahns are also $50.00 a piece but work well in .5 cuft.
Getting 1.5 cuft under the rear seat that's going to be fun.
3.0 cuft is going to be next to impossible.
remember that's INTERNAL volume not external.
IE: account for the thickness of the wood.

Are these the JBL subs you are getting?

Crutchfield has them for $50.00 and the specs match.

wolvrin704; ive had a hard time finding how to interface the stock 6 disk with a clarion HU. i called clarion they said it couldnt be done so did ford, PIE and Peripheral....am i missing something?
54regcab-yes those are the ones. Most of the other subs I've been looking at were around $80-100 so I figured I would give them a try. Supposed to be here tomorrow.
Joshlucas--no I didn't know that. I figured since it was Clarion it would work. That pretty much sucks. Did they recommend anything other than getting new changer. I would really like a HU that will control the changer also. Thanks for the heads up.

FuNewGee,
If nobody said so before, check out http://www.crutchfield.com
They have one of the most informative car audio sites around and have a golden reputation for customer service, though you can usually find stuff a little cheaper. They're worth the xtra price, though, IMHO. Have ordered two car alarms from them and extremely satisfied.

wolvrin704, Sorry it took so long to reply, so far ive been asking that cd changer interface question for 2 months and its been pretty grim to say the least, from what i understand it talks greek (or some other language ford liked) and not the standard coding...this "coding" is licenced and companies like PIE and Perifferal buy these coding and make translators. From what iv'e come to learn is that ford wont sell the "coding licence"...but i could be wrong (still searching for a good company with alot of geeks thatll crack the coding)..By now youve probably got all your stuff in so this is probably to late.
Actually I don't have anything in yet. I've been busy buying my startup equipment which include: amp, subs, crossover, sub box, and seat lift. I just got the seat lift in yesterday and will put in this weekend. I got it because I want 10's rather than 8's. As for the HU, that will be awhile. I think I will by a Kenwood CD player and then as funds become available I'll get a new changer for it. For now I'll get a line output convertor to hook the amp and crossover with. The only thing I'm waiting on is a box for the subs which I'll get as soon as the lift is in, then its install time
wolvrin, if you are going to buy a new HU anyways, I might stay with that Clarion. That is a real real nice unit. I am not knocking the Kenwoods in any way, they are nice as well, but I heard a 7575z and it was just awesome. I also took a listen to the Kenwood 811 and IMO I thought the Clarion was a little nicer though.

I do like the Clarion don't get me wrong. But I've had a Kenwood before and loved it, plus a buddy of mine has a Kenwood Excellon in his Mustang and its awesome. I haven't fully decided yet and it will be awhile before I do buy one since I don't want the wife to kill me. I would say price will have alot to do with it. I am looking at spending 300 or less on HU. All changers seem to be close to same price so that is really immaterial. If I could spend as much as I wanted I would be getting Alpine but am not willing to spend $500+ on the type of HU I want. But I will go to stereo shop when I start looking and decide which I actually like better and then look online for best price. Thanks for the input Hobie2.
