Question adding a sub, whats all in there?

97 xtnd w/6disk; added a boston acustic 10, with an orion cobalt amp. ran it through a line converter and it sounds sloppy to say the least. i need a good preout level, is there anyway to get this on a factory system, none on the stock reciever, is there an amp somewhere or is that comp button just a "loudness" feature. heard the notion that the changer might have outputs but that sounds unlikely. maybe there are do i need to split the output? anyways im cheap and are just trying to avoid buying a new reciever. i like the one its got. if i got to replace the reciever im open to suggestions, but i want to keep the rest of the system so it must be compatable.

I was wondering the same thing. I have same setup, with 6 disk changer. I want to add 2 subs in stealthbox with amp and 4 new 6x8's with an amp. Also adding crossover. I found a message on here that says our changer is a Clarion, so I'm thinking of buying a Clarion reciever with 3 outputs, in fact the DRX7575z or DRX8575z. Guy at work told me I would need 3 preouts.

Lightbulb

thats alot of equip but i also have a 90 SHO, its got 3JL 10's in a custom box i built, all on 1 amp, new infinity kappa perfects in the doors and rear deck, on another amp.all running off of an old sony deck with one set of preouts...what this boils down to is yes the xtra preouts are nice but...they dont have to be a necessity...theyre just signal thats at a comfortable level for an amp to drive. you can split it; it sounds to me that your runnin 2 amps, ya only need two preouts at the most. good luck with those stealth boxes, i got rid of mine...not enough butt for me, im runnin one boston acustic 10 now with alot better performance off of half the wattage, but i dont have the comfort of a third seat. oh well, its all in the eye(or ear) of the beholder.
