Question Audio Inputs

Anyone out there install a system that has front mounted additional input/output plugs (normally red/white)? These come in handy for laptops/mp3 players/mp3-reading cd players that aren't available as car stereo units atm. I mean, why have normal cd's, when your laptop can have a 500 song play list?

Why can't they make regular CD players recognize MP3 format?
You could get about 150 - 200 songs on 1 CD.
Blank Cd's are less than $2.00.
Imagine the possibilities.

I don't know, but they're going to have a cd player designed to read cd's with mp3 files on them come out soon (I think/hope), for around 200 dollars, but still, casette-car adapters suck bigtime, need audio input jacks for things like this cd player and/or laptop

I've seen HU with front jacks but they are of the 1/8" headphone jack type.

54regcab,

They do make hu's that will take mp3's. As for making a CD player or changer, you're talking totally different technology. When an audio CD is made, it's formatted differently than that of a data CD, which is what an 'mp3 cd' is. If you search the net, you can find lots of mp3 capable hu's, no addon changers thusfar. Although MS was showing off quite the neat thing at Comdex this year... you could synch mp3's between yer computer & car...
