Space behind the Factory head unit
Space behind the Factory head unit
For you guys that have pulled your head unit I was wondering... How much room is there behind the unit.
I had a Blaupunkt head unit professionally installed in my F150 so I have the old head unit--it's rather odd shaped behind the faceplate--you know the way it looks:
/----| Faceplate facing right
-----/ |
-----------|
Is it shaped this way because of space constraints?
I ask because I'd like to put another single DIN radio under my Blaupunkt -- so would another one fit? Is there enough vertical clearance?
Thanks,

I had my head unit replaced as well. The opening for the deck is only a din and a half. As for adding another stereo, it can't be any larger than half a din (assuming your current stereo is din sized). The only thing I know that could fit in that space would be an eq. A problem I did run into is that a support bracket for the dashboard (in the back and top part of the stereo enclosure) prohibited the installation of my eq. The guy told me he could cut the bracket to make it work, but since its a lease I chose to play it safe. Hope I was of any help.
