buzzing sound
buzzing sound
I don't understand this buzz sound that's coming out of my speakers and tweeters. I was showing off my sound system the other night. Sounded great like always. Turned it off, no big deal. Turned on later that night and everythings sounded perfect. Turned it on the next day and I had this really annoying buzz sound.
I turn the head unit off, it goes away, have the radio turned all the way down, it makes the noise...trucks off in aux mode, no buzz sound with speakers and tweeters. I just turn the radio up until I can't hear the sound....
The only thing that changed was my amp for my subs. I blew a fuze, no big deal, done it before. Replaced the fuzes just like always. amp started back up and subs started. Then turned off the truck and amp never turned on. Even with new fuzes didn't turn the amp back on. The light on the amp turns on for just a second and then turns off everytime I start my truck...
So what in the hell do I do? Amp won't work, buzz sound which increases when I start speeding up while I'm driving. No buzz sound when truck is in aux. with speakers on...I think it's the amp. My friend pulled the white and red audio cables out of the amp, then touched the plug on the audio cable on to the side of the plug insert that he removed them from...buzz went away. Metal part at the end of the audio plug, to metal part of the audio plug insert...no buzz...And this is onto the amp that isn't turning on...
I don't think I could've made that anymore confusing, but thanks for any info...

Is the noise coming from the door speakers or the sub? If it is the sub check the ground. Make sure you have the amp grounded to the truck body and secure. If the sound is from the door speakers and gets louder as the RPM's go up you may need to buy an inline noise filter for your radio. You can get these at most auto parts or electronic stores. This will filter the power coming into the head unit.
Also you need to determine why you are blowing fuses. Unless you have a short your fuses should not blow just from turning the radio up loud.

Well the amp that's connected to the subs isn't working, so the sound is just coming from the speakers and the tweets. I checked once, but I'll check again to make sure the grounding is good. I don't understand how the grounding for the amp can so randomly get loose? Inline noise filter. I had best buy instal everything. I didn't want to take the time and end up screwing something up cause I got a lot of stuff that I put into my audio...I'll have to get back to ya with all that...Thanks though
I bet you've got a serious wiring problem. It sounds like to me that you have a power wire pinched pretty good somewhere in the truck. Generally buzzing is the ground but the amp is failing which means its getting horrible power issues and technically dieing, thus your fuse problem. Like said above, your ground could be bad. Have you scratched the paint off the surface where the ground connects well enough?
Other fixes to buzzing which is generally road noise is by grabbing what is called a ground loop isolator. It simply installs between the RCA wires and the amp.

One more thing, NEVER EVER EVER LET BEST BUY TOUCH YOUR TRUCK AGAIN. They are full of idiots that most aren't even certified.

Hold up. I worked for BBY for two years. I since have transferred to a CCity. But while i was there, there was two 1st class and one basic. This was the best install bay in a 60+ mile radius. No damage claims in the past 3.5 years and a 125% productivity rating. And repeat and word of mouth business was nuts. I went over to the CCity to help clean up their bay. Watch what you say.
