I did a search - no magic bullet answer about CB installation

I'm looking for creative installation options for a CB in an 06 SCREW. I don't want to use the dash top tray, I like the utility of throwing the cell phone and stuff in there while I drive. In my '94, I had it mounted just in front of the heater on the low part of the dash (below the ash tray). This new truck has too tight a clearance between the seat (40/20/40 bench) and the dash, plus the tranny hump comes up too far and the thing would block the ash tray and routing the wires out the back would be a PITA.

I can't mount it to the overhead console, it blocks the rear view mirror and the cord would flop around against the driver (me) and passenger (SWMBO).

Where else is there? The glove box comprises the entire dash portion in front of the passenger. Maybe sideways on the tranny hump to the left of the passenger's feet? Can anybody out there clip me a clue-pon?

What kind of antennas are you all having success with? I am not opposed to drilling the roof if it means a better gain.

I'd appreciate some help.

sounds like you should have went for the captin chairs so you could mount it like i mounted mine. I have a tray in the front of the center console and it fits perfect. ran all the wires under the door sill and under the pass seat. not sure where you can put yours thought. good luck. would you be able to push it futher forward in that dash tray so you would still be able to use a portion of the tray.

nditech,
Do you have the center console with the shifter on the floor? I have an 04 with this setup and have been trying to figure where to put my General Lee,... i was thinking about cutting out the area where the ash try usually is and mounting it in there but was not sure if enough ambient air would be available to feed the cooling fans on it. Any ideas? THX.
