iPod Cable with XM Receiver??

I have a 3+ yr old Alpine head unit with the external XM receiver plugged into the AiNet connection. The XM receiver also has an AiNet jack that you can feed a CD changer thru. Crutchfield has an adapter plug:

that changes the AiNet to an aux input. My question is can I just plug this into the extra AiNet port on the XM receiver and plug my iPod into the RCA cables (with the proper adapter)??

I think that should work. I had my iPod connected through the AI net input on my old Alpine deck. Using it throught the AI net on the XM receiver just kind of extends the AI net plug. Give it a try.

What you should really do is buy the new Alpine CDA-9856. It has the new iPod Full Speed cable and is satellite radio ready. There's some pictures of it in my gallery. It's a top-notch unit. Not too expensive either.

I hear ya, it would just be hard convincing the wife that I need to replace a head unit that works great and still sounds great.

Think I will give the cable a try - for $16 I think I can take the risk.

What the wife doesn't know won't hurt her.
But I hear ya, I'm buying all my toys now before I get married next year.
