97 F-150 6 CD Changer removal help

Hi there,

Sorry if this question has been posted already (i've been reading a ton of the threads and didn't see one exactly like my issue, plus i'm new to this forum so maybe my searcing isn't the best). Anyway, I have a 97 XLT 4x4 Extra Cab with a 6 CD Changer in the back side wall behind the driver. The changer started giving me the "no disc" error message from the main deck, then I was not able to remove the cassette either; made a grinding noise when the eject button was pressed. It finally came out on it's own after several days. Anyway, I bought a Stock changer that came out of a 2000 Lightning (bought on eBay and it came with the wiring harness). My first question is will I have to change the wire harness, and my second question is how do I get to old changer out? There aren't any real visible screws. Is there a URL you can point me to or give an outline what needs to be removed? Any help is greatly appreciated.

you have to pull up the plastic sillplate and the panel is held in with some clips. once you get that out of the way you'll see the mounting bolts to changer.

not quite sure but you may have to pull both the drivers seat, seatbelt and the rear seat to get to them.

Thanks for the help casualtr. I'll try to figure out how to get that sillplate off without hopefully having to take the seats and all . Once they are out of the way, taking out the changer I believe looks pretty easy. Appreciate your feedback.
