I bought an 05 Lariat with the 6 disc cd changer w/audiophile. I was searching on the web and found that the optional 6 disc cd changer with the audiophile option has the mp3 capability. I tried puttin in a cd with mp3 music on it, but it didn't work. The screen read "CD ROM DISC" and it ejected the disc. Can anyone explain to me what the mp3 feature is and how to use it. Thanks.

 

Look in the head unit fourm there is a thread there titled mp3 help someone replied to the post saying that it may be a defective head unit and would be covered under warranty.

 

Actually there is a simpler explanation. Ford makes two models of that deck: one that supports MP3's and one that doesn't. If it does it should say MP3 in white lettering right above the cd load slot and buttons 3 and 4 should also say "< Folder and Folder >"
If they don't then you have the model that does not support MP3 playback. Another way to check is on your invoice where it talks about the audio package, it should say Audiophile 6 disc changer w/ MP3 or something like that.
If it does, but you don't have that deck then someone made a boo boo at the factory. Your dealer should be able to swap it out for the correct deck.
