CD Changer won't work

Hi all. I have a 98 F150 Supercab (built at the end of 97) and last week the CD changer stopped working.

I can hear the disks being loaded, but they are not being read by the player. After all the disks have been loaded and read, teh head unit says "NO DISC" and the radio comes back on.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if it needs to be replaced or not. If so does anyone have one they are looking to unload!!!

Cd changer removal

I've got the same problem in my wife's 1998 and she is not happy that I have not fixed it yet. I started to take it out but got discouraged when it appears that I have to remove the whole platic panel to get to it. Can anyone help me with a shortcut to removing the changer?

Mine just quit also.

I've searched through almost every post about the six disc changers. Is it going to have to be taken out and replaced? Or does anyone know a fix for it. I'm not wanting to spend a lot of $$$ if I don't have to. I'm just about ready to throw up listening to the crummy radio stations around here. And it's only been dead for 3 days. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Crater

Can you explain...

Casualttr, would you mind explaining in more detail what you did to "clean the hell out of it"? I have a '99 and my cd's are skipping all the time now and I can't stand even trying to listen to cd's anymore.

You can email me directly; wylie150@hotmail.com or I 'll check this thread for your information.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Kerry
