Pics of my homemade floor console!

I needed a place to hold my in-dash screen, DVD player and XM Radio controller so I decided to make my own floor console. It was pretty simple to make, I used 1/2" MDF and wrapped it in black vinyl and made an aluminum trim plate for the top. I wanted to use grey vinyl, but I couldnt find it at any fabric store around here so I had to settle for black.

Here are some pics:

I did something similar, but it is my sub box. Works great, but I am going to redo it this year to integrat better in the truck.

I am interested in making something similar to mount equipment in my truck. Could you possibly post dimensions of the box? Also, is there enough room near the floor, as to not obstruct the floor heater air flow? Thats something that I was working around too. Thanks in advance!!

Sorry.

Just so there is no confusion about who I was talking to when I said Thats Hideous. I meant both of you. You've taken a beautiflly rounded interior, and driven a square peg through the heart of it. There are these "curve" things I've read about somewhere. I'm not exactly sure what they are used for, but they sure do look good.

Stratus:

It's too bad that some -noob's- have to come and badmouth your hard work. I personally am indiffent on it's looks, but, it looks like you put a lot of time into it, not like you slapped some plywood together with nails and called it a box,

I also enjoy seeing other's work. So please don't let any discouraging remarks stop you.

Still a thumbs up in my book - thanks for sharing

LOL......

Anyways, nice work Stratus. I thought about doing something like that for my truck, but decided to buy a box for a sub instead. Looks very cool and creative.

that can not be safe...but it looks nice

That's a cool looking box; love the display sliding out to adjustment and a pretty good visual level.

But what about the commander unit. That would drive me nuts. Not to mention it doesn't look safe. Are you solely using the remote (lie to me and tell me yes if you have to) and not looking at your floorboard to change the XM as you drive.

Other than that one large safety hindrance it looks awesome.

And oh yeah....Clean your floors, God....brand new console and some filthy floor mats
